FCPS Cluster VI Schools to Host Family Resource Night
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Cluster VI schools will host a Family Resource Night on Thursday, March 22, at 6:30 p.m. in the Lake Braddock Secondary School cafeteria.
The event is designed to provide current information specifically for families in the Lake Braddock Secondary, Robinson Secondary, and West Springfield High School pyramids.
Guest presenters will provide brief presentations on Internet safety, drug and alcohol prevention, and personal finances and managing credit. Interpreters will be available to translate presentations into Chinese, Farsi, Korean, Spanish, Urdu, and Vietnamese.
Representatives from some FCPS departments and programs and a number of community organizations will be on hand to offer information about free and low-cost services available to all families. Information about available programs will be distributed, and representatives will answer questions from FCPS families. Participants will include representatives from the FCPS Office of Family and School Partnerships, Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY), FECEP-Head Start program, Adult English for speakers of other languages (ESOL) program, and the following community organizations: Fairfax County’s Mott Community Center, Fairfax County Alcohol and Drug Services, the Hispanic Committee of Virginia, Inova Health System’s Partnership for Healthier Kids, the Girl Scouts of America, Hogar Immigrant Services, SCAN of Northern Virginia, the Foundation for Appropriate and Immediate Temporary Health (FAITH), the National Institute of Family Counseling, and the Legal Aid Justice Center.
