A new summer arts program, the Elementary Institute for the Arts (E-IFTA) is opening in conjunction with the popular Institute for the Arts this July. E-IFTA is open to students who are currently in grades 3-5. It’s an affiliate of the Institute for the Arts (IFTA) which is in its 25th year this summer. Both programs will be held at Lake Braddock Secondary School and transportation from FCPS high school locations is included.
E-IFTA is a two-week program from July 16-July 27. Students will experience total immersion in the arts as they rotate through exciting classes in dance, drama, music, and visual art. Students will attend one class in each art form the first week, and a different set of classes the second week. These classes are designed to give students a different arts experience than what they typically receive during the regular school year. The classes will be accessible to all students and will not require prior experience. A sampling of classes may include:
World Drumming
Jazz Dance
Sculptural Play
Music Composition
Modern Dance
Stage Combat
Clay Modeling
Improvisation
