Burke's Ho's Dynasty Closing After 25 Years

Owner said rent is too high and business is down.

Andy Ho has been serving Burke at his for 25 years, but that ends on November 30.

"When my lease came up for renewal, I had to consider that all the money I'm making is paying the landlord," he said.  "The rent is too high and business is down."  Ho said he's paying $14,000 a month in rent, but a new lease required even more.

"I don't know what's happening or what the landlord wants," said Ho. "Already three businesses have closed in this shopping center," he said.  "It seems like the landlord might want to do something."

According to Ho, the businesses which closed are , My Eye Doctor and a karate school. 

CBRE is the management company for Burke Centre Town Center, in which these businesses were located. They did not respond to a request for an interview.

Andy Ho moved to the United States from Hong Kong in the 1980s, and built his business around his native foods.  He now plans to work with his brother Darren Ho at Darren's Asian Grill at 6228 Rolling Road in Springfield.
