I don't know about y'all, but after tromping around in boots all the time during this snow-filled winter, I'm in serious need of some foot care. I did some research in our Burke Patch business directory to see where I could get the best pedicure to get my feet high-heels ready for the spring (which will -someday- come again, I'm sure).

I looked to Five Star Hair - a 30-year-old salon on Burke Centre Parkway. The family-owned business is now run by siblings Penny, Kenny and David Marshburn.

"My mom wanted to retire and she didn't want to sell to anybody she didn't know," Penny Marshburn said, as so many of the employees had worked there for years. The Marshburn siblings purchased the business from their mom about two and a half years ago.

There are three levels of pedicures at Five Star Hair.

The $45 Spa Pedicure is the original that's been around at the salon for the last three decades. It includes hot towels, a massage, soaking time and exfoliation. "This is our most popular pedicure," Penny said. "It takes about an hour."

The $30 Express Pedicure was recently added to appeal to those with a short amount of time or younger ladies with less money to spend. Penny said it includes everything available in a spa pedicure only condensed.

The $65 Ultimate Pedicure includes everything in the spa pedicure and adds on a foot mask as well, for feet in need of some serious mosturizing.

The salon has a fantastic website illustrating current specials. They have everything from incentives for first-time clients to referral programs and deals for those who "like" Five Star Hair on Facebook.
