West Springfield Boy's Varsity Basketball celebrated a big win Friday, beating rivals and league-leaders Lake Braddock for the first time in five years. The final score was 35 - 31.
The Spartans also held the Bruins to their lowest point total of the season.
"Lake Braddock entered the contest leading the Patriot District with a 7-1 conference record," said Spartansports.org.
In addition, the game marked the fourth consecutive in which the Spartans held their opponent to that team's lowest point total of the season.
"Second year Spartan coach Jason Eldredge is doing an excellent job," said Jim Bradshaw, announcer for the games.
High scorers in the game included:
- Sean McMahon with eight points and five rebounds;
- Colin Mosley with eight points;
- Kyle Gonzalez with seven points;
- Matt Ahola and Trier Mortlock with four points each.
The Spartans have 7 wins, 9 losses. They're next game is at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 27, at South County Secondary School.
