A Packed (Open) House for Greenspring's Newly Redesigned Medical Center

Greenspring retirement community held an Open House for its updated on-campus Medical Center on Friday, Jan. 27.

The renovation and redesign of the center updated exam rooms, and provided new workstations, lower counters, more accessible hallways and doorways, as well as modernized interior decorations.

The Medical Center originally opened in 1998 with one doctor on staff.  Today, six physicians, three nurse practitioners, one mental health specialist, and one podiatrist work at the center.

Additionally, nearly a dozen outside specialists routinely visit the community for appointments -- including those in the fields of audiology, dentistry, urology, orthopedics, neurology, cardiology, and dermatology, among others.

The center exclusively uses electronic medical records to manage patient care.

Greenspring Medical Center's goal is to provide exceptional care to residents while helping them maintain an independent lifestyle. Approximately 93 percent of the nearly 2,000 Greenspring residents utilize the on-campus center.

Dr. Matt Narrett, chief medical officer for Erickson Living, and Lee District Supervisor Jeff McKay joined more than 100 guests, residents and staff at the open house.

Greenspring, one of 16 Erickson Living full-service retirement communities, is situated on a scenic 108-acre campus in Springfield, Va.  The community is home to nearly 2,000 residents, many whom reside in the 1405 independent living units.
