Congressional candidate for Virginia’s 11th district, Chris Perkins, visited with the Greenspring Republican Club at the Springfield, Va. retirement community on Tuesday, Dec. 6. Hoping to receive the 2012 Republican nomination, Perkins described himself by saying, “I’m not a politician; I’m an old soldier.”
Perkins indicated that he is a supporter of state’s rights, entitlement reform, and a balanced-budget amendment. He also said he believes the 2012 elections will be focused around two major issues: the role of government and the character of elected officials.
Perkins addressed issues and questions raised by residents, including those regarding illegal immigration, life issues, budget cuts, defense spending. He said, “our biggest threat is our struggling economy.”
