One of our favorite events at Fairfax Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA) is the swearing in ceremony for new volunteers.  We take so much pride in the accomplishments of the volunteers, who have just completed an intensive training program, and are now prepared to fight for the rights of our community’s most vulnerable children.

Just four weeks ago, Chief Judge of the county’s Juvenile & Domestic Relations District Court, the Honorable Thomas P. Mann, officiated at the latest swearing in ceremony, where 16 citizens took the oath “to steadfastly work for what is in the best interest of the child.”

Judge Mann reminded the volunteers that they are now “promise-keepers” for children and youth during a turbulent time in their lives. The ceremony drew a large and supportive crowd of family, friends, and current volunteers who were there to applaud the new volunteers and their commitment.
