Youth Bicycle Rodeo

The Fairfax County West Springfield District Police are hosting a bicycle rodeo for children age 6 to 12 at the station on Saturday, March 31.

Those of you who know me, know how important I think it is to teach our children the skills they need to safely navigate their bicycles on our busy suburban roads. The are providing an excellent opportunity for this on Saturday, March 31.

  • West Springfield District Station’s Neighborhood Patrol Unit will host a bicycle rodeo for grade school aged children (6-12) at the station on Saturday, March 31. The rain date is scheduled for April 21.
  • Children will learn about bicycle safety, and then participate in a challenging obstacle course that is designed to reinforce safe riding. Additionally the police department will have several police vehicles and equipment on display along with a visit from McGruff the Crime Dog.
  • Families are welcome to stop by at anytime during the event. Group leaders with six or more children are asked to register by emailing the station at: FCPDWSPNPU@FairfaxCounty.gov
  • Please include your group name or unit number, affiliation such as “Cub Scouts”, and the number of children who plan on attending.
  • All children who wish to participate are required to bring their own bicycle and a bicycle helmet that has been approved by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
