LYNCHBURG, Va. – Apr. 11, 2014 – In the state of Virginia, there are more than 1,300 children in foster care who have been removed from their homes through no fault of their own. In an effort to assist these vulnerable children, loving families with room in their hearts and homes are invited to attend a free Foster Care Adoption awareness event coordinated by the Virginia Department of Social Services that is scheduled for Saturday, April 26 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Thomas Road Baptist Church in Lynchburg.

The event, paid for with a grant from the state of Virginia, will feature an emotional presentation by professional football player and Lynchburg native, Cedric Peerman of the Cincinnati Bengals, as well as a musical performance by The Gospel Tears. In addition, attendees will have an opportunity to learn how they can help these deserving children during a panel discussion led by local adoption experts and a heart-warming story shared by an adoptive family. There will also be a drawing for Peerman’s NFL jersey and an iPad.
