Burke Centre Library Closed Monday Due to Power Outage

The power outage is also affecting about 1,000 customers near the library.

The Burke Centre Library, located at 5935 Freds Oak Rd., is closed Monday due to a power outage, according to the Fairfax County emergency blog.

The Dominion Virginia Power outage map indicates there are more than 1,500 customers in that area of Burke currently without power as of 12:03 p.m. Monday due to the winter storm that hit the area yesterday.

The National Weather Service Monday morning issued a Winter Storm Watch for the entire Northern Virginia region calling for possible heavy snow to hit the area Tuesday. 

The snow and ice that moved in over the weekend affected 130,000 Dominion Virginia Power customers in Northern Virginia and Fredericksburg, and as of about 11:30 a.m. Monday, about half of those had been restored.
