3. Chocolate Lovers Festival

Where/When: Old Town Fairfax, various locations/Saturday, March 5, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.; Sunday, March 6, 12 p.m.- 5 p.m.
Why Go:
 Spend the weekend indulging your sweet tooth. There will be a wide range of events including a glass harp musical performance, a cupcake decorating class, displays of chocolate cakes and sculptures and a silent auction. On Sunday, a rainforest show features a 9-foot boa constrictor, an iguana, a mcaw and an 11-inch giant millipede! For kids, there's the mock trial of Little Miss Muffet, a fire safety puppet show, storytellers and a children's music entertainer.

5. Burke Lake 12k
