Thousands of people descended on Burke Saturday for the start of the 36th Annual Burke Centre Festival.

The two-day festival kicked off with a flag-raising ceremony by local boy scout troops, a few remarks from Braddock District Supervisor John Cook and a flashmob of dancers who surprised everyone with their moves.

Check out the media player above for photos from day one of the festival.

It was unfortunate that Stacey Kincaid, as she so often does, just disregarded the rules by not paying for her own area and illegally using Eileen Filler-Corn's tent to campaign from. The rules are simple: Rule #2. One candidate per booth. No more than two assistants are permitted in the booth at one time. Booth assistants must communicate with festival visitors from within the parameters of the booth. Rule #4. Literature may be distributed only from inside the boundaries of your booth space. BUTTONS, STICKERS and BALLOONS may be displayed and/or handed out -- only from the applicant’s assigned booth space. Materials may not be displayed or distributed anywhere else on the Conservancy’s Festival Grounds, to include the front/back entrances. Instead of paying for her own booth, like everybody else did, Ms. Kincaid just showed up at Delegate Filler-Corn's booth with about 10 of her minions and began passing out her stuff and campaigning inside and outside of the booth. The other political booths obeyed the rules. The Kincaid campaign motto must be "Little care I for the law." After the Conservancy staff repeatedly told her to knock it off, she finally got the hint when several of the staff had to go to Delegate Filler-Corn's booth to clear out Kincaid and her gang. Delegate Filler-Corn has class and she is above the cheap tactics that the Kincaid campaign exhibited today.
