Kilroy's Restaurant to Raise Money on Saturday for Displaced Local Family

The Springfield-area restaurant is hosting a turkey festival and turkey chili contest and all proceeds will go to a family who lost their home and belongings in a fire.

Local restaurant Kilroy's is hoping to help raise money for a family in need during their Turkey Testicle Festival and Turkey Chili Contest on Saturday.

From 12-3 p.m., a $20 donation fee will get customers drink and food specials and a chance to judge all of the chili entries in the contest.

All proceeds from the event will go to help a Springfield family who recently lost their home in a fire.

The family's home was destroyed in a fire on Evanston Road in Springfield on Friday, Nov. 8. The fire, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, started when the family was outside of the home. A news release states firefighters encountered heavy smoke and fire coming from the roof and rear of the three-story, middle townhouse upon arrival. The second floor of the home started to collapse while firefighters were attempting to fight the blaze, causing a second-alarm response and bringing approximately 60 firefighters to the scene. Damage to the single-family home located is estimated at $200,000.

Saturday's kid-friendly event will feature games, WMZQ Dj Jenni Chase, and live music from musician John Luskey.

Kilroy's is located at 5250 Port Royal Rd. in Springfield.
