New 'Chef at Market' Cooking Series Coming to Burke

The series, which involves cooking demonstrations at local farmers markets, is part of a new initiative by Fairfax County to teach residents how to prepare healthy meals.

Fairfax County has launched a new cooking series at farmers markets throughout Fairfax County in an effort to help shoppers learn how to create healthy meals from their market purchases.

The “Chef at Market” series, which launched earlier this month, features volunteer chefs from Virginia Cooperative Extension Master Food Volunteers. The chefs will prepare meals on site through live cooking demonstrations. At the end of the demonstration, residents can pick up free recipe cards to take home.

The recipes, according to a news release from the Fairfax County Park Authority, will mostly use fewer than five ingredients and will not feature heavy seasoning.
