Registration Now Open for Winter Break Camps at Hidden Pond Nature Center

The Springfield park has two camps available from Dec. 26 to Dec. 28.

Hidden Pond Nature Center in Springfield is still accepting applications for two of its winter break camps, which run through Friday, Dec. 28.

The camps are geared toward children ages 5 to 10-years-old. Both the Wilderness Survival Camp and Gross Encounters of the Weird Side Camp are from Wednesday, Dec. 26 through Friday, Dec. 28 at 8511 Greeley Blvd in Springfield.

According to the Fairfax County Park Authority’s website, the Wilderness Survival Camp will teach students basic survival skills to survive in the woods without shelter, heat, or food. The children would learn how to find clean water sources, how to us a compass and other skills.

The cost for the camp is $115 per child. The camp is from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Gross Encounters of the Weird Side Camp will teach kids about animals and facts about nature and science. The camp lasts two hours starting at 4 p.m.
