Strike Out Sarcoma 5K Run/Walk Held at Burke Lake Park

Rising senior orchestrates first "Strike Out Sarcoma 5K Run/Walk" to benefit the research of this rare form of cancer.

Emily Nagle, a rising senior this fall at West Springfield High School, today executed the first ever "Strike Out Sarcoma 5K Run/Walk"  to benefit the research of this rare form of cancer.

As part of her quest to achieve the Girl Scout "Gold Award," Emily had to show leadership and create and execute a project from start to finish all on her own.  She chose this cause, due to her mother Laura being diagnosed with this rare form of cancer.

Mom was there today offering her support and help at the registration table, but Emily was definitely running the show.  Over 250 participants registered for the event helping to raise over $2,000 for the cause.
