Supervisor Cook to Host Community Meeting for Royal Lake Restoration Project Monday

Braddock District residents will have the opportunity to give feedback on the project.

Braddock District Supervisor John Cook and the Fairfax County Stormwater Planning Division are seeking resident feedback about the Royal Lake Restoration and Dredging Project.

Cook will host an informational community meeting about the project Monday. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria of Robinson Secondary School in Fairfax.

The goal of the Royal Lake Restoration and Dredging Project is to remove approximately 101,500 cubic yards of sediment from Lake Royal, according to a news release from Cook’s office.

Royal Lake Dam is located south of Commonwealth Boulevard near the Braddock District communities of Kings Park West, Glen Cove, Village Park, Chatham Town, Lakepointe and Rollingwoods Estates.

Royal Lake is is part of the Pohick Creek Watershed and one of five lakes in the Braddock District. Previously, Lake Accotink and Lake Barton were dredged as outlined by Fairfax County's dredging schedule.

The community meeting is open to the public. Representatives from the Fairfax County Stormwater Planning Division and the design firm that created the plan will discuss proposed improvements and answer questions from residents.
