Burke-Area Students Receive Cappies Nominations

Students from Lake Braddock Secondary School, Robinson Secondary School and West Springfield High School all received nominations in annual theater awards.

More than 10 students from Lake Braddock Secondary School, Robinson Secondary School and West Springfield High School have received nominations for the 2013 National Capital Area Cappie Awards.

The Critics and Awards Program, or Cappies, is an international program that gives high school theater students and aspiring playwrights and journalism student the opportunity to critique theater performances and have the reviews published in local newspaper.

The following Burke area students have been nominated for awards in the categories:

  • Rachel Steiner for Supporting Actress in a Play in The Diary of Anne Frank, West Springfield High School

  • Katie Rogers for Supporting Actress in a Musical in Hairspray, Robinson Secondary School
  • Catherine Ariale for Lead Actress in a Play in The Diary of Anne Frank, West Springfield High School

The awards ceremony for the 2013 National Capital Area Cappie Awards will be  at 7 p.m. June 9 at the Kennedy Center.
