Aquila Theatre: Six Characters in Search of an Author

At the George Mason Concert Hall. Get there early for the Pre-Performance Discussion: Members of the Company

This illustrious British/American touring company returns this season with an exciting new theatrical production of this famous work by Nobel Laureate Luigi Pirandello. First staged in 1921, this surrealistic tragicomedy dared to ask fundamental questions about the very nature of art and entertainment, blurring the line between reality and artifice. The play opens with actors in rehearsal for a Pirandello play when six nameless characters unexpectedly appear. These characters are searching for the author who failed to finish their story, leaving them incomplete and unrealized. This remarkable work is incredibly relevant today, as well as poignant and funny. The Los Angeles Times said of Aquila’s production, “superb…intelligence and laser-sharp line readings.”
