RAMbunctious Theatre, a group of Robinson Theatre students, will perform Funny as a Crutch (pg-13), a series of comedy sketches about people make their way in the world.  You’ll find yourself laughing at this humorous and poignant view of life from the disability perspective.

The March 4th performance, 8 pm at Robinson Secondary School, Russell Theatre, is the first of several performances, which include New York City in July and six performances at the August 2011 Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland!   Every year thousands of performers take to a multitude of stages all over Edinburgh to present shows for every taste at the Festival Fringe, which is the largest arts festival in the world.

RAMbunctious Theatre invites you to the March 4th performance of Funny as a Crutch.  There will be a Q&A talkback with the cast following the performance.  Ticketing for this show is setup as a fundraiser to help these students get to NYC and Edinburgh.  We are sharing proceeds from this event with the Northern Virginia Training Center, ocal residential and training center supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities.  (www.nvtc.dbhds.virginia.gov)
You may purchase tickets as follows:
o   In advance/$20.00 benefactor donations/tickets via http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/150563;  or
o   At the door/“pay-what-you-can” donations/tickets.
Russell Theater is fully accessible, please email robinsondrama@yahoo.com at least 5 days in advance to request accommodations.

The selection of this show provides the company a unique opportunity to work with outside consultants that have disabilities to help the actors genuinely portray their role.  "This show is funny in the way that it presents real life situations but it was hard for us at first because there are things that aren't really PC,” says Jason Rath a Kings Park resident and Junior at Robinson.  "Being able to ask questions and talk openly with people with disabilities really helped us understand their perspective and the humor of the show."

Other RAMbunctious Theatre Fundraising efforts include:
o   The hosting of Capitol Steps, the musical political satire group,  on Sunday, April 3, 2011, 7:30 pm (http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/135444) and
o   Kid’s Day Out (drama games & activities for elementary students) from 10-4 on Saturday, March 19th (http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/153753).

RAMbunctious Theatre, a 501© non-profit organization, will also accept donations to help cover travel, props, costumes, and other costs associated with taking a production across the pond.  Donations can made to RAMbunctious Theatre and sent to:  RAMbunctious Theatre, 6005 Wilmington Drive, Burke, VA 22015.
