Japanese Festival of Obon

AN EVENING OF CULTURE, DANCE AND FOOD.  Ekoji Buddhist Temple is celebrating its' 31st Obon Festival on Saturday, July 14th from 5:30pm to 9pm with a full evening of activities including traditional Japanese folk dancing, a memorial candle ceremony, children's games and a taiko performance by Nen Daiko. Great food will be available for purchase including chicken teriyaki bento, somen, curry rice, shaved ice, hot dogs, and homemade desserts. Food can be pre-ordered (recommended) at www.ekoji.org.  Temple tours will be available.  On Sunday, July 15, a joint service will be held at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. Brian Nagata visiting from Berkeley, Ca., who will also serve as the guest speaker.
