The new tower is part of a multi-year expansion project for the Inova medical campus.

Construction on the new South Tower at Inova Fairfax Hospital is now complete.

The tower is phase one of a multi-year expansion project for the Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, which also includes planned renovations for a 12-story replacement tower for Inova Women’s Hospital and Inova Children’s Hospital in 2016.

According to a news release, the 11-story South Tower, which cost an estimated $160 million, has added an additional 216,000 square feet of space to the medical campus.

“The addition of the South Tower to our medical campus is yet another example of how we are serving the complex needs of the community through high-quality care in a patient-friendly environment,” Patrick Christiansen, CEO of Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, said in the news release.

The new tower includes 120 private rooms for medical/surgical patients and 54 rooms on the brand-new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) floor, which was designed to “improve flow and staff collaboration”.  The release further states the building’s design uses “abundant natural light, open space and views of nature to enhance the patient experience and promote healing”.
