New Giardino Restaurant Opens in Kings Park Shopping Center

The restaurant is owned and managed by the same family that owns Villa Bella in Burke.

A new Italian restaurant has moved into the Kings Park Shopping Center just outside of Burke.

Giardino, located at 8944 Burke Lake Rd. in Springfield, opened on Oct. 1. The restaurant replaces San Vito Ristorante Italiano, which closed earlier this year.

"People are happy that we opened sooner than we expected," said Manager David Nieves. "The reception so far has been excellent."

The restaurant is owned and managed by the Amato family, the same family that owns restaurants Villa Bella in Burke and Paradiso in Alexandria.

While Giardino serves a variety of Italian dishes, Nieves said their brick oven pizza is the biggest draw.

"We have one of the best brick oven pizzas around the area," said Nieves. "We work on our own homemade pizza dough, homemade pizza sauce, everything."

At Giardino, patrons can choose between two sizes: a 12" medium or 16" large pizza. Prices range from $8.75 for a medium margherita pizza to $19.50 for a large pizza paradiso, which has tomato sauce, mozzarella, spinach, sausage, and prosciutto. Toppings cost $1.75-$4, depending on the size of pizza and choice of regular or gourmet topping.

In addition to pizza, Giardino serves homemade soup daily for $6. Their lunch menu, which lasts from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.,  includes subs and paninis served with french fries. The restaurant also serves calzones and a variety of pasta dishes.

Giardino is open Sunday-Thursday 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Tell us, Burke: Have you tried Giardino yet? Are you happy to have another Italian restaurant in the area?
