Onelife Fitness has signed a long-term lease for almost 60,000 square feet in Rolling Valley Mall, according to Kirk Galiani, owner of Onelife Fitness with his brother John.
The club will have a phased opening, beginning in early February with a sales center next to , at 9372 Old Keene Mill Road; phone 703-455-5433. The exact date is still pending.
"We're going to start by retrofitting the existing club space, then building out the entire 60,000 square feet, modernizing it into a large sports club," said Kirk.
The completed facility will include four pools:
- An aerobic exercise pool;
- A lap pool;
- A large play pool for kids, with water slides.
- A whirlpool.
and several group fitness rooms:
- Women only exercise room;
- Cardio-cinema room;
- Yoga room;
- Spin room;
- Energy studio, for classes like Zumba and Body Pump.
The fitness club also will include a basketball court, saunas and a smoothie bar.
Kids will have their own area to use, while their parents exercise. It will include ball crawls, kids-sized basketball, movies and a computer center.
Kirk said Onelife Fitness will be a top notch facility. "We're spending over $1 million on equipment alone," he said. "We're using European tiles and granite countertops. It's going to be the nicest club in the Washington, D.C., area."
A limited number of $27.99 a month memberships will be available. "In February we'll be enrolling members at extremely reduced pre-opening speicals," said Kirk. The membership will eventually be about $45 a month, with a one year contract.
Kirk and John Galiani, owners of Onelife Fitness, are natives of McLean who opened their first fitness center in Fairfax in an historic schoolhouse. It grew to franchises in 46 states and 26 countries, with more than two million members.
They sold their interest in that chain, and now are developing Onelife Fitness, "to inspire greater public participation in regular physical activity."
The one-story retail building comprising Rolling Valley Mall totals 235,000 square feet. Combined Properties Inc. developed the complex in 1974.
