Zinga Frozen Yogurt Opens in Kings Park Shopping Center

The store, which opened on April 12, will offer 12 yogurt flavors daily.

Frozen yogurt fans rejoice; Zinga officially opened in the Kings Park Shopping Center at 8942 Burke Lake Rd., on April 12.

According to Nick Perry, new store developer for Zinga, the store has received positive feedback from the Burke and Springfield communities since opening.

"We've had a great response from the community so far, especially from students," said Perry.

The self-serve frozen yogurt shop will offer 12 flavors daily and more than 50 premium toppings such as fresh fruit and real M&M's and more. The toppings, Perry said, are as real as the yogurt. The coffee flavor yogurt is made with real coffee just as the strawberry yogurt is made with real strawberries. All fruit in the store arrives fresh and is chopped and made to order daily.

Since the flavors offered will rotate, Perry suggested customers check the Kings Park Zinga Facebook page daily to learn what the new flavors will be before stopping by the store.

Like all Zinga stores, the Kings Park location is locally owned and operated. Part of Zinga's mission is to be a partner to the community where the store is located. To celebrate their opening, the Kings Park store gave away free 10oz servings of frozen yogurt to customers in exchange for donations to Lake Braddock Secondary School and the Burke Athletic Boosters through a donation jar near the register in the store.

"We really want to be involved in the community and the fundraisers were a great introduction," said owner Joy Higbe.

Higbe estimates the store raised over $2,000 during the grand opening fundraisers, which ended last weekend.

Zinga is planning to open locations in Arlington, Falls Church and Front Royal soon, according to their website.
