Burke, Springfield Remember Neighbors Lost on September 11

Honoring the 10 who were our closest neighbors.

Of the 184 people who died at the Pentagon on 9/11, 10 were from Burke and Springfield. The National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial honors each of them.

In addition, the Burke Centre Conservancy named its roadway Johnson-Sabin Way, in honor of the two Burke Centre residents who perished: LTC Dennis M. Johnson and Charles E. Sabin, Sr.

Following are the names of the 10 from our community who died on Sept. 11, 2001. The hyperlink at each person's name leads to that person's complete biography on the National 9/11 Pentagon Memorial web page.

Charles Droz and Vicki Yancey were passengers on Flight 77, which crashed into the Pentagon.  The others were in the Pentagon at the time of the crash.

Great effort has been made to honor these Americans and their families with accurate details.  However, facts varied in our research. Please email Susan.Larson@Patch.com if any corrections need to be made.  Thank you.
