Cook had over five times the number of signatures required to file a declaration of candidacy.

Incumbent John Cook filed his declaration of candidacy for Braddock District Supervisor Monday with over 1,000 petition signatures.

Cook filed over five times the number of required petition signatures with his declaration for the November 8 ballot.

"This is the most signatures filed by any GOP candidate in the County," Fairfax County Republican Committee Chairman Anthony Bedell said. "It is a sign of strength for his campaign and confidence in his candidacy."

Several prominent Republicans have already endorsed Cook for his race, including former Congressman Tom Davis, Governor Bob McDonnell, Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling and Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli.

"I've been involved in Fairfax government and politics for the past 30 years," Davis said. "John Cook is the real deal for the taxpayer. He is exactly the kind of steward that we need in public service, he gets things done, and he has my full support."

McDonnell described Cook as a "results-oriented Supervisor" and said he was pleased to count him as a reliable friend in Fairfax.

"I am honored to have these endorsements, which speak to my broad, unchallenged support in the Republican Party and my ability to get things done," Cook said.
