Nom Nom Nom: Friday is National Donut Day

Love donuts? Love free? On June 7, grab a free donut from Dunkin' Donuts or Krispy Kreme locations near Burke.

Whether you spell it donut or doughnut, there’s one word we can all agree on: free. National Donut Day is Friday and donuts shops across Northern Virginia will hand out free donuts to customers in celebration.

The sweet, national holiday was established in 1938 and is recognized on the first Friday in June every year. According to donutdayusa.com, soliders in World War I were served donuts by Salvation Army donut girls.
