The possibility of continued severe weather in the area today had Fairfax County Public Schools officials sending out warnings this morning.
"Due to the possibility of severe weather and a tornado watch this morning, parents are urged to monitor weather reports closely for their area, walk with their children to school, or wait at bus stops with them until their bus arrives," an e-mail sent out this morning said.
Despite this cautionary measure, however, Burke isn't expected to see thunderstorms until around 10 a.m. These thunderstorms could continue through 1 p.m. The rest of the day is expected to be cloudy, humid and hot, with temperatures in the 70s.
