3. Mount Vernon Memorial Day Weekend Sunset Celebration

Where/When: Historic Mount Vernon, 3200 George Washington Memorial Parkway/Friday, May 27-Sunday, May 29 from 6-9 p.m.

There will be something for everyone with costumed performers interacting with visitors, 18th century music, dancing and games and wagon rides. 4. Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Rally  

Where/When: North Pentagon Parking Lot, Arlington/Sunday May 29 at 12 p.m.

Why Go: Participate in this annual demonstration seeking to improve veteran benefits and resolve POW/MIA issues. Ride with thousands from the Pentagon to the Reflecting Pool across from the Lincoln Memorial.

5. Wreath-laying Ceremony

Where/When: Arlington National Cemetery, Monday, May 30 at 11 a.m.

Why Go:  Witness the wreath-laying ceremony and concert at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in honor of Memorial Day. While at Arlington notice the American flags placed before over 260,000 gravestones. This tradition is known as “Flags-in”, since 1948 the members of the 3rd U.S. Infantry have honored America’s fallen heroes by placing a small American flag at their graves.
