The National Weather Service is predicting a 100 percent chance for a "wintry mix" tonight followed by freezing rain on Tuesday morning, which could play havoc with morning commutes.

The "wintry mix" is a blend of rain, snow and sleet, starting before 9 p.m., with freezing rain falling between 9 p.m. and midnight. More rain or freezing rain is expected after midnight. Tuesday is shaping up to be a rainy day with a 90 percent chance and high of 40 degrees, which should help keep roads from getting icy.

The Capital Weather Gang says that some outlying suburbs in Loudoun County may still have ice, especially in hilly areas.

If you're planning any playdates or outings, Thursday is your best bet. Forecasters are calling for a sunny day with a high of 36 degrees, followed that evening with...you guessed it, snow showers! Forty percent chance.
