Ocean Celtic
Celebrate in the Gaelic tradition with a high-spirited concert by the OCEAN Celtic quartet, whom The Washington Post has called “nothing short of spellbinding” and Eye on Annapolis has dubbed “Washington’s most prominent Celtic fusion group.” Celtic Beat called the band's Song for the Night Sea Journey album "an inspired work," adding "Not since Riverdance have I heard anything so impressive." With soaring vocals and atomically-charged instrumentals, OCEAN will serve up a special helping of seasonal songs, lore and plenty of blazing jigs and reels.
Jennifer Cutting (accordions, piano, artistic director), Lisa Moscatiello (voice, guitar, whistle), Andrew Dodds (fiddle), andSteve Winick (voice) are known for their goosebump-raising performances and surprise-filled repertoire. Composer and ethnomusicologist Jennifer Cutting culls through the Library of Congress’s Folk Archive to find rare ballads and tunes, giving them shimmering new musical shapes. Vocalist Lisa Moscatiello has a voice that Billboard magazine has called "one of the most gorgeous vocal instruments in all of folk-tinged pop." Award-winning Andrew Dodds is a fiddle virtuoso in the lineage of Scotland’s most esteemed traditional musicians. Steve Winick’s earthy baritone and powerful delivery will root you to the spot.
