Community Corner

Rain Gutter Regatta

The Patriot District of the National Capital Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America invites the community to participate in a Rain Gutter Regatta on Saturday, July 19, 11 am – 2 pm, at the Burke Centre VRE Train Station Front Parking Lot.  This family event is free where parents/guardians will “assist” their
son’s construction of a miniature sailboat and then racing it in a gutter filled with water.  Complementary sailboat kits will be provided. Target audience are non cub scouters, especially rising first graders, and their parents/guardians who are interested in the cub scouting program, as well cub scouts wanting to earn July credit towards the Summertime Activity Award. Packs are encouraged to sponsor a regatta racing track.  Point of Contact is Patrick Ring, pring978@verizon.net, 703-674-6178.
