Working Together to Stop Domestic Violence

October is national domestic violence awareness month. Domestic violence is the number one cause of injury to women, more than car accidents, muggings, and rape combined. Here in Fairfax County, domestic violence is the number one cause of homicide. Children suffer from domestic violence, with many baring emotional and physical scars from abusive parents. Children who suffer from domestic abuse are twice as likely to then abuse their own spouses and children.

Braddock District Supervisor John C. Cook is hosting an event to help spread awareness about domestic violence. The event will also raise funds for Fairfax CASA and Artemis House, two organizations that address domestic violence issues are part of their missions.

Join Supervisor Cook on Thursday, October 17, 2013, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 at Kilroy's in Springfield, VA.  Kilroy's has generously volunteered to donate 10% of the food proceeds to the designated charities. There will be food, music, raffle items, and an opportunity for guests to make their own charitable donations.

We hope to see you on October 17 for this great event!
