The Burke Centre Festival officially opened at 10 a.m. Saturday with singing of the national anthem, reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance and forward-looking speeches by public officials at the .
Members of Boy Scout Troop 1345 raised the flag.
Brian Engler, president of the board and local county Supervisor John Cook welcomed the crowd under partly cloudy skies and a pleasant breeze. Patrick Lloyd, executive director was also on hand.
Families pushing strollers and walking dogs are enjoying visiting with local vendors.

Admission is free.
Where: The festival is held on the grounds of the , 6060 Burke Centre Parkway in Burke.
When: It runs 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday. The Wine Garden (sponsored by Burke Patch) with food and music is Saturday evening from 5 - 10 p.m.
