Greenspring Hosted Nation's First Coordinated NIA Go4Life Campaign Fitness Event for Seniors

Greenspring retirement community hosted the nation's first coordinated National Institute on Aging's Go4Life fitness event for seniors on Wednesday, November 9.

Greenspring retirement community hosted the nation's first coordinated National Institute on Aging's Go4Life fitness event for seniors on Wednesday, November 9.  The goal of the Go4Life campaign is to provide resources to older adults that they can use to incorporate exercise and physical activity into their everyday lives.  This federal campaign is based on research showing that exercise and physical activity can help people stay healthy and independent, and prevent some of the chronic conditions associated with aging.

During the event, representatives from the National Institute on Aging visited the community and informed residents about the Go4Life campaign and its goals.  In addition, the health education and outreach event included the participation of residents in tai-chi, zumba, low-impact aerobics, yoga, and chair-fit.

“Greenspring is a vibrant community where residents enjoy staying active and fit,” noted Brad Hibbs, Greenspring Wellness Manager.  “This campaign fits perfectly with the existing campus wellness program which enables people to enjoy a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle.”
