Republican Club Hosts Pat Mullins

On Tuesday, August 7, the Greenspring Republican Club hosted Pat Mullins, the current Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia.

On Tuesday the Greenspring Republican Club hosted Pat Mullins, the current chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia.  Prior to this position, Mullins served as chairman of the Fairfax County Republican Committee from 1990-1996.  During that time, he helped to lead the Republican Party to a first Republican majority on the Board of Supervisors in the history of Fairfax County.  Mullins last visited Greenspring in September 2011 when he spoke to residents about the political climate and future of Republican politics in Virginia.

During Tuesday's visit, Mullins spoke about the upcoming election in November, calling Virginia the "epicenter" of the presidential campaigns.  "In order for either candidate to be elected, they have to carry two of three states — Virginia, Florida, and Ohio," said Mullins.  Due to this, the campaigns have been targeting the states with a barrage of advertising.  "It is estimated that both campaigns will spend $75 million to $100 million on televison ads in Virginia."

Mullins also encouraged residents to volunteer at local Republican campaign headquarters and share their ideas with friends and neighbors who may be undecided.  "I don't think this country will be the country you and I grew up in if he [President Obama] is re-elected," said Mullins.
