Jamie Radtke Suggests "Two Cents" for Balancing the Federal Budget

Greenspring retirement community's Republican Club hosted Jamie Radtke, who is campaigning for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Virginia.

Republican Club hosted Jamie Radtke at their Feb. 7 meeting.  Radtke is campaigning for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Virginia.  She is vying for the seat held by retiring Senator Jim Webb (D-VA).

Radtke presented the question 'What is the role of the Federal Government?' and focused her discussion on four main areas:

  1. Spending;
  2. Regulations;
  3. Tax reform;
  4. Virtuous leadership. 

In sharing her thoughts on spending, she suggested her "two cents" could lead to a balanced Federal budget in five years.  Her two suggestions:

  1. Freeze spending at current levels.
  2. Cut two cents out of every federal dollar spent.

Finally, Radtke stressed the importance of considering a candidate's character and electing more virtuous leaders to Washington.

The Republican primary will be held on June 12, 2012, where Radtke will be up against former Senator George Allen.

With what is expected to be a primary with low voter turnout, Radtke reaffirmed the importance of the senior vote.  Greenspring, which has been its own precinct since 2003, has traditionally produced the highest voter turnout across Virginia.
