Nearly 250 Residents and Guests "Pawsitively" Entertained at Greenspring's Annual Halloween Pet Parade

Greenspring's annual Halloween Pet Parade drew a large crowd last Saturday, October 20.

Greenspring's annual Halloween Pet Parade was held last Saturday, October 20; over 25 costumed dogs pranced by nearly 250 residents, staff, friends, and family members.  This year, the parade was sponsored by the Dogs of Greenspring resident club at the community, as well as local sponsors including Shampooch Mobile Spa, Inc., Felix & Oscar, and PetValu.

During the event, a special presentation was made by the Virginia Search and Rescue Dog Association (VSRDA).  According to their website, “VSRDA is a highly skilled volunteer canine search and rescue unit that utilizes specially trained dogs to locate missing persons in wilderness, disaster, human remains and water search and rescue/recovery missions. Each dog/handler team trains for a minimum of one year before becoming operational to insure a professional level of performance.”  VSRDA handler Chris visited Greenspring with three-year-old K9 Daisy and provided a glimpse into the life of a search dog.
