Sarah Jones, Springfield Veterinary Team Leader, Dies

The team leader for Chesapeake Veterinary Cardiology Associates died in a car crash last week.

Sarah Mae Jones of Woodbridge, 29, will be remembered at a gathering of Jones' family and friends at Covenant Funeral Service in Stafford from 7 - 9 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 12. Jones died in a car crash on Interstate 95 on Thursday, Sept. 6. 

Jones was a team leader for Chesapeake Veterinary Cardiology Associates in Springfield. Previously she worked at Woodbridge Animal Hospital.

She is survived by her parents, Roscoe and Joan Jones of Stafford, brothers Jesse and John, grandparents Phyllis R. Davis and Donald Lee Davis and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jones, a graduate of Brooke Point High School and student at Northern Virginia Community College, was popular with co-workers, many of whom wrote touching tributes on Patch following her sudden death. 

"The world will be a little less brighter with the loss of Sarah," wrote colleague Jaime C. "We worked together for many years at WAH (Woodbridge Animal Hospital) and just recently started new endeavors with her at the RVRC (Regional Veterinary Referral Center) and myself at The Hope Center. I remember how excited and happy we both were. She will be missed by all her friends and family, and all her extended families in the Veterinary field as well. She was a remarkable, talented, funny, and kind soul. I will miss her laughter, snarky sarcasm, and infectious smile…"

The family asks that memorials be made to an animal charity or to the American Diabetes Association.
