Burke Driver Injures State Trooper on I-95

Man, 70, veers into crash scene, charged with reckless driving.

Virginia State Police Trooper B.J. Norris was injured Saturday as he investigated a car crash in the northbound lanes of I-95, according to Corinne Geller of the Virginia State Police.

As Trooper Norris was exiting his marked Ford Crown Victoria, a 2004 Lexus sedan veered out of the left northbound lane, sideswiped another patrol car on the scene, and crashed into the rear of Trooper Norris' car.

The impact of the crash pushed the patrol car approximately 20 feet forward, into a Hyundai that had been involved in the original crash.  When the patrol car was hit, the driver's side door slammed closed on the trooper's leg.

Trooper Norris was treated at the scene for minor injuries. 

The driver of the Lexus, Robert Korinchak, 70, of Burke, Va., was not injured in the crash. He has been charged with reckless driving.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.  

Two children in the back of the Hyundai and the parents standing outside the car when it was hit by the patrol car were not injured.

They incident occurred near the 154-mile marker at about 3:25 p.m. November 19.
