Early Morning Fire Displaces Fairfax Family

Damages assessed at $150,000 on Marlborough Road

A fire in the early morning hours today (Wednesday) displaced all five occupants of a home at 10703 Marlborough Road in Fairfax, according to Renee Stilwell, public information officer for the Fairfax Fire and Rescue Department. Homeowners were alerted by a smoke alarm that went off, and called 9-1-1 at 2:17 a.m. after safely exiting the home.

Firefighters and occupants were unharmed. Firefighters put out the blaze in about 20 minutes. Firefighters from four area stations responded to the fire:

  • #32 Fairview
  • City of Fairfax
  • #14 Burke
  • #40 Fairfax Center

The home, located off of Ox Road near Country Club View Park, sustained about $150,000 in damage, Stilwell said. Breaking News Network reported the fire started on a back deck and spread to the home and attic. Investigators will try to determine the cause of the fire, Stilwell noted.
