Fatal Overdose Near Burke VRE Station

Police found a man in a creek bed near the station after he had ingested a foreign substance.

A man who overdosed in Burke Tuesday morning has died.

Fairfax County police responded to a call about an adult male ingesting a foreign substance around 8:20 a.m. Tuesday near the Burke Centre VRE Station, located at 10399 Premier Ct.

PFC Bud Walker with the Fairfax County Police Department's Public Information Office said police found the man near a creek bed not far from the VRE parking lot. It is unclear whether he was a VRE passenger or how he ended up in the creek bed. Walker said paramedics attempted CPR when the man was found. He was then transported to a local hospital where he later passed away.

Police are investigating the incident as an overdose, but Walker said no foul play is suspected.

The man's identity is still unknown. Walker said the official cause of death has yet to be determined.
