Police: Burke Woman Assaulted During Attempted Burglary

A man approached the 37-year-old woman at her home and tried to force his way inside the residence, according to police.

A 37-year-old Burke woman was reportedly assaulted Friday night during an attempted burglary at her home on Scarborough Commons Court, according to Fairfax County police.

The woman answered a knock at her door around 6:50 p.m. at her residence in the 10200 block of Scarborough Commons Court to find a man standing on her doorstep. The man spoke briefly to the woman and then tried to push himself inside the home, a news release from the Fairfax County Police Department states. He struck the woman in the upper body, she slammed the door shut, and the man then ran away.

The woman sustained minor injuries and did not have to receive treatment at a hospital.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, around 5 feet 9 inches tall with brown hair and weighing about 180 lbs. He was wearing a black T-shirt and jeans.
