West Springfield Police Host Bike Rodeo

The bicycly safety event is for kids ages 6 to 12.

West Springfield District Police are hosting a bicycle rodeo this Saturday, Sept. 29, for kids ages 6 to 12.  The event will be held at the West Springfield District Station on Rolling Road from 1 to 5 p.m.

Children will learn about bicycle safety and participate in a challenging obstacle course designed to reinforce safe riding. The police will have police vehicles and equipment on display. McGruff the Crime Dog will also make a visit.

Families are welcome to stop by at anytime during the event. Group leaders with six or more children are asked to register by emailing the station at FCPDWSPNPU@FairfaxCounty.gov Include your group name or unit number, affiliation such as “Cub Scouts”, and the number of children who plan on attending.

All children participating are required to bring their own bicycle and a bicycle helmet that has been approved by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The rain date for this event is November 3.
