Police Identify Person in Burke Chase of Teenage Girl

The April 19 event involved an emotionally disabled pre-teen.

Fairfax County Police report they have identified a person in connection with the when a man reportedly chased a 13-year-old girl with a knife.  The event occurred on Pierrpont Street in the Burke area.

After investigation, police determined the individual doing the chasing was an emotionally disabled pre-teen who lives in the area.  He was carrying a fake knife.

Police handled the matter privately with the families involved and notified the community in an email.

"This incident is not related to any other incident, and there is no public safety threat," said Lucy Caldwell, spokesperson for the Fairfax County Police.
