Police Search for Suspect in Kidnapping, Car Theft

Two-year-old in car at time of theft is safe.

Police are asking for help in a kidnapping and car theft incident that took place in the 7500 block of Murillo Street in Springfield, on Sunday, October 23, at about 4 p.m.

A 2006 Honda Pilot left with its engine running and a sleeping two-year-old boy in the back seat, was stolen while his mother briefly stepped inside a home. As she returned to the car, she saw it being driven down the street.

Within minutes of the report, neighbors and police found the car and the unharmed child abandoned nearby at the intersection of Backlick Road and Leesville Boulevard.

The suspect is described as a white male wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.
