Springfield BB&T Robbery Connected to Other Crimes

Police believe suspected carjacker Stephanie Lynn Schwab robbed a second bank.

are investigating the robbery of the BB&T Bank West Springfield Branch at 8432 Old Keene Mill Road on Tuesday, Nov. 22.

The suspect in the robbery, Stephanie Lynn Schwab, 26, of the Manassas area, is also wanted as a suspect in last weekend's Tysons carjacking and Prince William County bank robbery.

The suspect's mother, Helen Schwab, told Washington's NBC 4 she hasn't seen or heard from her daughter in two weeks.  "I just want to say Stephanie, I love you.  Please turn yourself in, and no matter what happens, I'll stand by your side."  The suspect's two children are in the grandmother's care.

In Tuesday's Springfield robbery, the suspect entered the bank at about 1 p.m., implied she had a weapon, and demanded money from the teller. She left with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries.

The suspect was described as white, in her 20s, around 5 feet 6 inches tall, with blonde hair and green eyes. She wore a plaid coat, dark pants and boots.

On Monday, Nov. 21, police obtained an arrest warrant for Schwab in the Nov. 19 carjacking of a Good Samaritan.

At about 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, a 59-year-old Fairfax woman was approached in the Tyson’s Corner II parking lot of Neiman Marcus by a woman who claimed she was a college student, out of gas and in need of a ride to a station.

The victim invited the woman into her vehicle, but as she drove toward Route 123, the suspect produced a knife and told the driver to get out. The victim was left at the intersection of Old Courthouse Road and Route 123.

Her vehicle, a 2003 silver Acura, Virginia tag XEK8095, has not been recovered.

Schwab is also wanted by Prince William County Police for a Friday, Nov. 18, bank robbery in that jurisdiction.
