West Springfield District Station to Host Youth Bicycle Rodeo Saturday

Children and families will have the chance to learn about bicycle safety, meet police officers, and participate in an obstacle course.

Burke residents are invited to swing by the West Springfield District Station for a youth bicycle rodeo Saturday afternoon.

Children aged 6-12-years-old will learn about bicycle safety from Neighborhood Patrol Unit officers from the West Springfield District Station of the Fairfax County Police Department. There will also be a bicycle obstacle course to help reinforce important tips for safe riding.

The rodeo will be at the West Springfield District Station is located at 6140 Rolling Rd. in Springfield from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. If it rains, the rain date for the rodeo is Oct. 5.

In addition to the course, McGruff the Crime Dog will stop by the rodeo and residents will have the opportunity to view police equipment and vehicles. 

All children who want to participate in the rodeo must bring their own bicycle and a bicycle helmet that has been approved by the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).
